The SFTRMB, is a 509 acre tract of land located within the floodplains of the Trinity River and Red Oak Creek in northeast Ellis County, approximately 10 miles northeast of Ennis, Texas. The SFTRMB is located on the Bristol and India, Texas, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) 7.5 - minute topographic maps. The SFTRMB is boardered on the north and west by private property, the east by the Trinity River, and the south by Red Oak Creek.

Regionally, the SFTRMB is located in the USGS Upper Trinity Unit (120301) and the Texas Blackland Prairies Eco-region (Omernik, 2002).
